Vita
Oliver is founder and coordinator of the emerging research division on Community Innovation & Creation (CIC) which works with Prof. Dr. Volkmar Pipek’s research group on CSCW and Social Media. In CIC, he is manager of Fab Lab Siegen and the federal three-year research project FAB101. Oliver is also lecturer for HCI- and Maker-methods (e.g. Design Thinking and rapid prototyping) and is an active member of Global Innovation Gathering, German UPA and Hackspace Siegen, elected member of the Commission on Strategic Development of the University of Siegen, safety advisor for the university’s Faculty III (School of Economic Disciplines), publicity chair for the International Conference on Communities & Technologies and reviewer for different academic journals and conferences.
He has a Background in Computer Science and Psychology (B.Sc.) as well as Human Computer Interaction (M.Sc.). Outside academia, he has worked and /or works as a cook, freelancer, salesperson, consultant, social worker, coach and motorcycle repairman.
Teaching
Oliver is responsible for the annual HCI lectures project-oriented part as well as for different seminars and other lectures on methods in research, HCI and digital fabrication. Up-to-date info is available in the university’s course catalog (LSF). Currently, he is teaching a reading class on digital fabrication, an experimental cooperative course in product development between engineering and HCI, an intro-seminar to the Fab Lab for international students and a seminar in Organisation and Tech Development for community innovation.
